More flotillas on the way

IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi warned the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Tuesday that there may be more flotillas heading to Gaza in the near future, and more clashes with those flotillas.
Libya allegedly plans to send at least one ship – and possibly more – to the region in just such an attempt next month, according to the Palestine Telegraph. A Tripoli-based group calling itself the Libyan Civil Mission to Support the Palestinian People released a statement Tuesday saying it would coordinate the launch of the flotilla – to be dubbed “Jerusalem 5” – together with one to be led by British ex-parliamentarian George Galloway.

The British convoy “Lifeline” will allegedly launch from Britain and sail to Gaza through Latakia and Tripoli, arriving in the Libyan port beginning October 10. Ships will continue to gather in the port until October 15, and are then scheduled to set sail for Gaza on October 17.

The European flotilla allegedly will include dozens of ships carrying passengers from numerous countries, including the United States.

“This is a challenge for the IDF and for Israel,” Ashkenazi told the MKs. “If we see large ships bound for Gaza, and force is used, then we cannot dismiss the possibility of casualties.”

According to the IDF Chief of Staff, at least four flotillas are being planned, including an all-female effort from Beirut that has run into obstacles in Cyprus. Others include a flotilla allegedly expected to set sail from Syria, and another being planned by Yemen, according to the IDF.
What could go wrong?

Israel should sink them.

The country will pay a price for enforcing the blockade in world opinion.

If Israel backs down, the result is likely to be a very heavily armed Hamastan in the future and the next war will lead to a lot of casualties on Israel's side.

To put it bluntly, Israel can pay now or Israel can pay later.

Now is the time to decide.

What countries like the US, Australia, Canada, the UK, and all the Euroweenies SHOULD do is tell their citizens that if they insist on going into an area under naval blockade, they suffer whatever the consequences are without any help from their home countries. They should also all be investigated for providing assistance to a terrorist organization.

But none of that will happen. And that is what is truly disturbing about these flotillas and world reaction to them. To me they signal Israel's loss of legitimacy even with the governments of countries like Canada and the US - where Hamas is considered to be a terrorist organization but these a$$hats are treated as harmless loons with no real agenda.

Blow the lead ship to smithereens and notify the remain boats that they have 30 seconds to start pivoting 180 degrees before they, too, become fish chum.

If only I were COS.........
