Abrams: 'Bush didn't agree to take 'Palestininan' refugees,' Olmert: 'Abrams didn't know everything'
Former George Bush adviser Elliott Abrams says that Bush never promised to take 100,000 'Palestinian refugees.'“President Bush did not, I am sure, promise or pledge to take 100,000 Palestinian refugees,” Abrams said. But Olmert claims that Abrams 'didn't know everything.'
“The president knew, as everyone in the White House knew, that no president has the power to make such a commitment. We have immigration laws and they don’t allow that kind of move by a president. He would have had to ask Congress to change our laws. Moreover, we would never have committed to a specific number anyway, nor did Olmert ask us to or raise that number.”
Olmert’s office responded to Abrams’s comments by saying that Abrams was unaware of commitments made by other Bush administration officials.Whom do you believe? It should be obvious whom I believe.
“Promises were indeed made on this issue by very senior Bush administration officials who were involved in the details of the negotiations with the Palestinians,” an official in Olmert’s office said.

In this case, I have no idea whom to believe. Olmert's claim to Abrams, that Abrams was unaware, is plausible.
And what does Olmert gain in lying about this? He could just as simply have stated that he did or wanted to suggest this the the US did or would have rejected it.
Who knows! In any case, Olmert is evil and rotten and a reckless endangerment to humanity.
Ehud K. Olmert isn't telling us the full truth.
What would you call a man charged with taking bribes and breaching the public trust?
Not an honorable character in my book.
Shy Guy, take that assessment for what its worth.
Norman, what difference would it make to Olmert to lie about this? What's the benefit?
The story continues.
