Jose Maria Aznar opens Friends of Israel in Jerusalem
I haven't found video of the speech yet, but here's a brief story about Jose Maria Aznar's speech that quotes a different part than I quoted. Speaking at a lunch hosted by the Governing Board of the World Jewish Congress, Mr. Aznar began by offering his condolences to the families of the four Israelis murdered by Palestinian terrorists the previous day.I'm still looking for the video.
To enthusiastic applause from the 200 assembled guests, he then outlined his philosophy on Israel and its centrality to the Western world.
“Defending Israel is the same as defending our liberal system,” he said, adding a key point he had made in a commentary in the Times (of London) earlier this year: "If Israel goes down, we all go down.”
