NATO member to arm Hezbullah

When will enough be enough? NATO member Turkey, which has access to some of the best Western weapons systems in the World, is joining up with Iran to arm Hezbullah.
Turkey and Iran are rumored to be helping Hizbullah obtain new weapons, Italian daily Corriere Della Sera reported on Wednesday evening.

Turkish intelligence chief Hakan Fidan reportedly met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Taeb to discuss relations between the two countries.

Sources told Corriere Della Sera that Turkey will "send sophisticated weapons, rockets and guns to Syria, that will end up in Lebanon," where, the Iranian Army will ensure the weapons are transferred to Hizbullah.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards "will facilitate the transition, ensure safety, watch loads on the routes, and provide support to the border," the report said.

The Iranians reportedly want to build a weapons network similar to that in the Sudan, and hopes to help Hamas, as well.

The Italian newspaper reported that Western intelligence sources "view the Turkish-Iranian plot with concern, as they are obvious risks to safety."

"The [intelligence] services in Ankara are among the best in the region," sources told Corriere Della Sera. "They have great knowledge of the Middle East, and know how to move on the routes of illegal trafficking."
Israel Radio reported on Thursday morning that they plan to use a land route to transfer the weapons.

Turkey is also one of the members of the Joint Strike Fighter Task Force that is developing the F-35. Will they buy some of those and transfer them to Hezbullah too?

This has gone way too far. It's time for the West to start treating Turkey as a pariah instead of pandering to it by opening 'international investigations.' Israel is not the only country whose interests are at stake here.

Hi Carl.
I've been saying for a very long tme to kick Turkey out of Nato.Turkey -Iran and Obama are the worst enemies to Israel already now there are rumors that Obama will talk to Ahmadenejad it's all a plan to destroy Israel as a state and if Israel doesn't act quickly it will be anihilated by them.

Israel still continues to treat Turkey with kid gloves. No one in Jerusalem wants to acknowledge that the state of relations with that country are not likely to return to what they were years ago.

What could go wrong indeed

I knew turkey was no ally of the US on the eve of the Iraq war, when they at the last minute told us we couldn't use there land to send in troops. We had a whole battalion in turkey that were ready to invade. The main reason for all the looting after the invasion was because that battalion had to move to Kuwait in order to advance into Iraq. Anyway the Iraq invasion is history but turkey is here and now and must be cut off from not only advanced weapons but also any intel briefings.
