It pays to be our friend

This ought to make the Turks green with envy: Israel may build a natural gas pipeline to Greece.
Although the full extent of the natural gas at the Leviathan gas field off Israel's coast is not yet known, geological surveys suggest that it is far more than Israel can use – and as a result, Israel is exploring the possibility of exporting gas to Europe, via a pipeline that would be built between Israel and Greece. The subject came up between Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on the latter's recent visit there, sources close to the talks said.

In response to press queries on the matter, a government spokesperson said that Netanyahu and Papandreou discussed many issues at their meeting, including economic issues, but that they could not confirm any specific topics.
Hmmm.

I'm not big on alliances, but this definitely deserves praise, if only because it'll show Turkey that actions have consequences. Doormat no more!
