We got mail!

An email entitled "Why?" received from an anonymous person with a gmail account:
What possessed you to do something as crazy as move to Israel ?

This orthodox nonsense is just as crazy as those Islamic fundamentalists. Only a deranged person can possibly make something as irrational as religion as the sole focus of his life.

As an American, you have the gift of being taught American history.

You have proved to me that crazies come in every race, color and religion.
Oh dear, I've brought the Jewish anti-Semites out of their caves, haven't I?

Your religion? Hmmm... awhile back some of those same people would have complained Orthodox Jews had no interest in living in Israel!

Its a Catch-22.

Jews just can't win, no matter what they do!

Not necessarily an anti-Semite.

Could simply be an orthodox atheist.

Are you sure this person is Jewish? It is incomprehensible to me that a Jew would not understand wanting to live in Israel.

I'd like to see this person try to debate an Orthodox Jew who has studied Maimonides' logical arguments for the existence of G-d.

There's nothing irrational about these arguments and they have a scientific leaning since Maimonides was a doctor. His arguments still stand up today as logical and rational 800+ years after he wrote them.

Did I miss something?

What within that email points that it was from a Jew? Hey, even if they signed their name and it was a "Jewish" last name how do you know it was real?

You did exactly what that person expected you do, you noticed him/her. And if that was not enough you assumed it was a Jew.

I wrote this comment.

I am what you describe as a pro-semite. I am non-caucasian, non-Jewish, and support the Jewish people of the world. I am also an Atheist. I am also a Zionist.

I state my race so you don't mistake me for a "Christians for Israel" freak.

After 2000 years of persecution, I would imagine that as a Jew, you would use logic and reasoning as the ONLY tools to help your community and SURVIVE the hatred that STILL EXISTS TODAY.

Your prayers will NEVER make Ahmadinejad to love your people. However, your tax dollars in the US will ensure that America will always be a deterrent to any threats that Israel will almost certainly face in the future.

My love for Jews comes from my numerous interactions with Jewish people and my subsequent attempts to educate myself about history of the Jewish people.
