This is from a report on how Israel's refusal to extend the 'settlement freeze' beyond September has become another obstacle to direct talks with the 'Palestinians.' One diplomatic source said that it seemed highly unlikely the US would have promised Abbas that if he entered direct talks all construction in the settlements, and in east Jerusalem, would cease, since the Americans would not promise something they could not deliver.Didn't Obama do just that last year? And on the very same issue....

The Palestinians have wasted an entire year refusing to enter direct talks and not because of anything Israel hasn't done. What is now clear is extending the freeze on the revanants still won't bring the Palestinians back to the table as they have other excuses not to negotiate. Israel should refuse cater to their transparent childishness. When they are ready to behave like a serious adult, then its time to hold talks.
