Online poll: 71% of Arabs could care less about 'Palestinians'
An online poll at al-Arabiya (link in Arabic) reports that 71% of respondents are no longer interested in the 'Palestinians.' (The graphic below is a screen capture from a Google translation of the poll).

It is inconceivable to this editorialist that the wall-to-wall coverage of a people who have nothing to do with the day to day lives of ordinary Arabs has made them sick of the whole topic - especially in light of the Hamas/Fatah split, which turned off a lot of previously supportive Arabs. If Palestinians can't get their act together, they are saying, why should we beat our heads against the wall for these babies?The real question this poll presents is whether (if ever) there can be enough polls like this to make the Arab rulers realize that they can cut the 'Palestinians' loose without worrying about the 'Arab street.'

The Arab rulers don't care about the Arab Street. They need the Palestinian issue to serve as a distraction from the very real problems of their societies. And having an enemy - Israel is very convenient for them in keeping their people's attentions focused elsewhere. And as long as it works, the Palestine issue will never lose saliency in Arab politics.
the standard of living of the Palestinians should be displayed and presented in every forum and in many ways..
how do the people of jordan, nigeria, turkey, congo, sudan, yemen, somalia and other nations compare?
What is the standard of living in bangladesh and pakistan?
Wont it be interesting to find out if those that support the Palestinians so called rights the most live with less of a quality of life than those supposed to be under "occupation"
