Abu Mazen sends Dahlan to Spain to oppose the opening of water access to Gaza
This is from an English translation of an Arabic article on al-Jazeera (Hat Tip: Abu Aardvark via Twitter). European diplomatic sources revealed that the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas opposes the idea of Europe requires the establishment of a maritime route to the Gaza Strip under the auspices of the European Union.Hmmm.
The sources said that Abbas sent a member of the Central Committee of the Palestine National Liberation Movement ( Fatah ), Mohammad Dahlan, to Spain, which currently holds the EU presidency, to discourage them from moving ahead with the idea.
The news agency ANI from those sources as saying that Dahlan met with Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, and explained to him the view of the Palestinian Authority should not be talking by Europe for the idea.
She explained that Dahlan - who is also Commissioner for Information in the Fatah movement - arguing during a meeting with the European official that would open that sea lane that "undermines the foundations of a Palestinian state, and give the Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas ) force, and undermines the legitimate authority, and enshrines the separation between the West Bank and Gaza Strip ".
The source's own that Dahlan was supposed to stay in Spain for one day, but it has extended his visit for the meeting with the Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Spanish, to develop a vision of the common European on the blockade of Gaza and meet with Moratinos again.

The PA doesn't want Hamas strengthened! Its friends in the West aren't listening... any more than its listening to Israel. Its a lonely place for Abu Bluff and Netanyahu these days. Too bad they aren't snuggling up to each other!

I have a hunch this is just BS. I feel in the pit of my stomach Abbas is just saying this to look good.
Anyway, if I am wrong, not to sound paranoid but if Abbas does not want access to Gaza by the sea and the rest of the world is pushing for it, the world truly wants the end of Israel. I mean they have to know the strategic implications of this for Israel is extremely bad.
