Saudi cleric to visit Jerusalem?

A Saudi cleric announced on his television show on Sunday that he would be broadcasting his next program next week from Jerusalem.
A Saudi Arabian cleric announced on television on Sunday he will make an unprecedented visit to Jerusalem next week as part of an intensive Arab world effort to claim Muslim ties to the city, which Arabs envision as the capital of an independent Palestinian Authority country.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said no applications have been made for a visa for the cleric, Sheikh Mohammed al-Areefi, and that they know nothing about his announcement.

Al-Areefi told his viewers that he would broadcast his next show from Jerusalem to discuss Muslim claims to the city. Saudi Arabia bans travel to Israel and is one of the most fundamentalist Muslim countries.
Given that Israelis are not allowed into Saudi Arabia, I see no reason to let this guy in. But unfortunately, it seems that if he applies for a visa, the Israeli government will grant it.
He said he was not afraid of any "treachery from the Jews," as he had put his trust in God. Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said while he was not familiar with the case, Al-Areefi could apply for a visa from the consulate in Amman.

"Throughout the years many people from countries like Libya, Indonesia and other countries that don't have relations with Israel have visited Jerusalem," he said. "All these visits were naturally coordinated with Israeli authorities," the spokesman said.
Stupid Jews.

A saudi cleric from our good friends the Saudi's?

Can't tell you what I would like to do to him but on the serious side, denying him a visa would cause a diplomatic row. The Jews are always wrong, you know. We can not stoop so low. Denying him a visa right or wrong would put more ammunition into the false accusations Israel is an apartheid state.

Israel may be a Jewish State but it is a state among the nations. A democratic one at that.

Please, let's leave the name calling to Haaretz and the rest who hate our guts.
We as Jews may make unwise choices but we are not stupid!! Furthermore, of a bad choice here and there, why lump us in one package as STUPID JEWS?

Well, if Israel is going to give the guy a visa, then someone who gets quoted in the international press could coo and rave about what a friend of Israel this Saudi guy is and how wonderful it is that someone such as himself wants to come to Israel. We're sure our govt reps will have productive discussions with our Israel-befriending Saudi visitor... etc. His feet will become clay in his loving community. I wouldn't be surprised if he cancelled.

I suspect he needs his hemorrhoids treated.

He wouldn't trust any of his co-religionists, so he probably gets medical treatment from a Jewish doctor.

In turn he will spew hatred against Israel and stake his claim....

They should have given him a visa when the Saudis give visas to Israel's Chief Rabbis.

Where is the Jewish pride and self-respect?

Oy vey!
