The real reason for Dubai's anger

Laura Rozen discovers the real reason why Dubai is so furious over Mahmoud al-Mabhouh's liquidation.
But in fact, am told that one reason UAE authorities are so ticked off about the assassination is because they were quietly cooperating with Israel on Iran intelligence. Indeed, an Israeli minister was in the UAE the day the assassination took place.

UPDATE: "Israeli National Infrastructure Minister Uzi Landau visited the UAE, to attend the IRENA (Int’l Renewable Energy Association) meeting for that purpose around January 17th, 2010, ... in Abu Dhabi, not Dubai," a source says. "This was first visit by an Israeli minister to UAE and met UAE commitment when they won IRENA HQ in Abu Dhabi."
Well, we knew about Uzi Landau (and in fact, from the outset, there were claims that people in Landau's entourage were involved - those claims have been dropped). But as noted, he was in Abu Dhabi.

As to the Iran story, that's believable. Hmmm.

Its the loss of face that angered Dubai more than anything else. Honor plays a larger than life role in Arab/Islamic culture. Its a point that is difficult for Westerners and Israelis to appreciate and this difference in how Israelis and Arabs see the world makes the prospect of peace happening in our own lifetime very distant, indeed.
