The real reason, imo, for Obama's attitude toward Israel is that, despite the ongoing and often miraculous success by Israel against her enemies, from a perspective of logic, this won't continue forever. In his, and in many other minds, Israel is a temporary 'condition'. He's only being pragmatic.
