Assad: 'Peace will come through resistance'

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad isn't interested in 'negotiating' with Israel anymore.
"It would be wrong to think that peace will come through negotiating. It will come through resistance," Syrian President Bashar Assad said in a speech Wednesday - a sharp shift in tone for a head of state who, just a year ago, was in indirect peace talks with neighboring Israel and who has tried to warm ties with the U.S.
Isn't Obama wonderful? What a great 'accomplishment'! What could go wrong?

For Syria, there is no price to be paid for being extreme. The more extreme the regime is the more assiduously the West and Israel will court it. So far Assad has been uncannily perceptive in sizing up his opponents' weaknesses.

What could go wrong indeed
