Heartbreak: Netanyahu on Obama's Nobel

Shavua tov v'shana tova - a good week and a good year to everyone. For those wondering how I could be online on a Jewish holiday, please keep in mind that I am at home in Israel where we only have one day on which work is forbidden at the end of the holiday. It's all over for us.

Unfortunately, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu seems to have lost his nerve when it come to dealing with Barack Obama. I'd rather he just have kept quiet than issued this comment, which came through on Twitter a short time ago:
Obamas determination has given new hope to humanity and permission to dream and act.Giving a sense that there is a God and believe on earth.
Excuse me while I lose my dinner.

This almost seems sarcastic.

if this is true, it's the worst thing Netanyahu has ever done imo & surely God will not tolerate that blasphemy

in the secular realm, it's also not pragmatic, since early in Obama's own memoir he explicitly admits to being trained by his Muslim-animist stepfather to only appreciate strength in people & nations

Netanyahu is the exact opposite of Obama. He's considerate of others even when they least deserve it. He didn't have to say anything nice. It speaks volumes about the difference in the character and deportment of the two leaders. One who is gracious to a fault and one who simply must be the center of every one else's attention.

The irony of course will completely lost on Obama.

Heh

Call me cynical, but I think it's a shrewd bit of flattery on Bibi's part. He can butter Obama up where it costs him nothing.
