Human Rights Watch gets tough on the Saudis

Human Rights Watch, which was recently criticized for fund-raising in Saudi Arabia by promising to be tough on Israel, has decided to get tough on the Saudis themselves... sort of... (Hat Tip: Jawa Report).
Unfavourable treatment of minority Shia extends from education and employment to the justice system, leading to a big increase in sectarian tension, it says.

They comprise 10 to 15% of the Saudi population, and have long complained of being treated as second-class citizens.

Human Rights Watch wants a government commission to tackle the problem.

Saudi Arabia follows the puritanical form of Sunni Islam known as Wahhabism, and many Wahhabi clerics regard Shia Muslims as unbelievers.
Some of you may be wondering why HRW had nothing to say about the Saudis' treatment of Christians and Jews. Perhaps it's because they don't have any Christians or Jews in Saudi Arabia.

By the way, the guy at the top of this post is a Saudi executioner. He's in charge of Christians and Jews in the Kingdom.

Heh.
