What the CIA investigation means for Israel

I'm sure most of you have already heard that Attorney General Eric Holder decided on Monday to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate supposed CIA abuses of terrorists. For those who haven't seen the story yet (and even for those who have), there's a great summary of it here. It was also widely reported on Monday that CIA director Leon Panetta was furious over the investigation and even threatened to resign.

There's a connection to Israel in all this, and it's not a pretty one. Michael Goldfarb reports that one of the results of this situation is that Panetta has apparently lost a turf war to Dennis Blair, the Director of National Intelligence. Blair was the guy who wanted to appoint Chas Freeman to head the National Intelligence Council (Hat Tip: Danny A).

Imagine - just imagine - that Panetta quits and Blair convinces Obama to replace him with Freeman.

What could go wrong?
