Now I KNOW I want to boycott Whole Foods

I live in Israel. I never heard of this chain until last week. But now I KNOW I want to boycott it.
The success of Whole Foods is largely built on Mr. Mackey's understanding of the liberal mind. It wants the good life - but with instant absolution for the sin of conspicuous consumption. Whole Foods is marketing at its best. Iconography and slogans throughout the store - not unlike those Barack Obama used to win the presidency - tell the shopper they are saving the planet in large and small ways.

The product is so good even conservatives and skeptics are willing to play along.

But Mr. Mackey missed the key ingredient of modern liberalism: intolerance to the ideas of nonliberals. And this miscalculation may prove to be devastating to his multibillion-dollar business.

Everywhere one looks these days, the intolerance of self-avowed liberals is on display. Especially since Mr. Obama came to power.
Read the whole thing. Liberal intolerance to non-liberals is universal.

Andrew Breitbart is clueless - Whole Foods is anti-Israel and has embraced every Far Left cause with gusto. Its the last company on earth the Right should support with its dollars. Its poetic justice the Left is turning on it. And I'm quite happy about the boycott.

Aren't you misreading this Carl? According to the article cited, Mr. Mackey is a free marketer who is against the liberal mindset, and has earned good money by playing it like a violin. The moonbats are enraged at having been deceived. Conservatives should shop at Whole Foods, if we can afford to. The food is pricey.

Sounds to me like Mr. Mackey would pass Mr. Gilder's Israel test. I suspect he is a supporter of God's chosen people and their land.

Carl, We have a big one in White Plains, and we are now boycotting them. I am asking my daughter, who is a frequent customer, to also boycott, and pass the info on to her foodie friends.

And as for IKEA? Never will we go there again either.

Warren, the fact Mackey is right on one issue does not change the character and orientation of his company. Unlike the shallow Right, I look at the entire issue in perspective. And again, I'm very happy to see Whole Foods get its just desserts.

Good to hear it, Nana. Jews do not need to patronize places that deliberately seek to harm Israel or represent those who do. Your daughter can shop at Joe Trader's. There are organic stores that don't support terrorists and delegitimize Israel. As consumers, we are entitled to use the money we spend to bring about real change.
