'We need Malcolm Hoenlein'

Michael Fenenbock sent me this post and asked me to pass it on:
Here’s the headlines.

Days after a “Reassure the Jews” White House session, Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren is formally summoned to the State Department where he is informed of American displeasure and read the riot act about Jews building in Jerusalem.

And there’s this.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has let the cat out of the bag. American policy toward Iran, Mrs. Clinton explained, will be reality-based and centered on living with the fact that Iran will have nuclear weapons. Not stopping them, but living with it.

These are perilous times.

Which leads me to this assertion – we need Malcolm Hoenlein in this fight. I know, I know. These guys were all warned about Obama.

Still, at the White House meeting it was Malcolm Hoenlein who stood up and challenged President Obama.

Threatened with having two-state shoved down Israel’s throat and a failure to act on Iran, we do not have the luxury of “I told you so.”

We need Malcolm Hoenlein. He has the power to affect events. We need his voice and his influence in this fight.

Lately he has become more vocal in his criticism of American policy, jumped with both feet into the effort to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons, and this week he delivered a fiery stand- up-and-fight address at the Christians United for Israel convention.

I applaud all this. We need Malcolm Hoenlein in the fight. Too much is at stake.

Listen, don’t doubt it. The Obama administration, in pursuit of a Muslim-centric foreign policy, intends to apply unrelenting pressure on Israel. These are perilous times.

There’s a saying in American politics, “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.”

I don’t want to hear about the Sarah Palin disinvite. No recriminations. We need Malcolm Hoenlein’s voice in this fight.

There’s another saying in American politics, “Don’t get mad, get even.”

It’s not enough to give speeches, or write op-eds. Respectfully, Malcolm, my advice is do something substantive… and political. Do something that puts iron in your challenge. Do something that hurts them. Make them pay a price.

Lastly, about that question of Jews building in Jerusalem… three cheers for Mrs. Moskowitz. No, make that ten cheers for Mrs. Moskowitz.

Israel has to defend itself. At the end of the day, Jews have to do it because no one else will be there for them.

No we don't!
The Jewish "establishment" has failed Jews and Israel so badly lately that clearly we need to start building a new and more representative Jewish leadership. We have the same problem here in Canada with the likes of Bernie Farber of the Canadian Jewish Congress who goes around pretending to represent Canadian Jews when clearly he has never gotten that mandate from anyone.
Going back to Hoenlein: the Jewish leadership was so blind and so off-base in their support of Obama when it was so clear that he would be a huge problem for Israel that they have effectively destroyed their own credibility and relevance. Not only did they support an antisemite but their policies allowed for organizations such as J-Street to flourish and push the most visible side of the Jewish Community even further left into complete appeasement and national suicide. They need to be swept aside and replaced by Jews who will use their voices and support as a way to serve Jews and Israel, not the Democratic Party. For them to have shuned Bush who was Israel's best friend and to thrown their support behind Obama is beyond stupid, it is almost criminal.
Fire. Them. All.

Malcolm Hoenlein is actually relatively 'right wing' in comparison to many of the clowns who call themselves Israel advocates.

That should be kept in mind...
