The more things change, the more they stay the same
This is an interview by Mike Wallace from April 12, 1958 with Abba Eban, then Israel's ambassador to the United States and to the United Nations. What's amazing in watching this video is how much things are still the same (except for the cigarette ads). In particular, I want to point out to you that the Arabs were complaining about land Israel had liberated in 1948 that went beyond the original lines that the UN had fixed in the 1947 partition plan. What they never mentioned was that they had rejected the partition plan and had lost that additional land in a war that they started. Does that sound familiar? It should. It's essentially the same thing that happened in 1967, and the Arabs have been crying about it ever since. Note who wants peace and who wants war.Let's go to the videotape (Hat Tip: Shy Guy).
There's a full transcript of the interview here. It's an amazing interview.

Whereever can we find someone like Abba Eban, and get him involved in Israeli politics again!
Well said, across the board. Clear, concise, to the point, and proud (Not cowering)!
Thank you for posting that interview. It deserves viral distribution! Amazing.
A classic interview with a giant of diplomacy. Could you imagine Obama, Clinton or Biden going head to head with Abba Eban?
We need another one now.
