Israel circulating photo of Husseini with Hitler
Israel's foreign minister has ordered Israeli diplomats to circulate a photograph of Haj Amin al-Husseini, the former Mufti of Jerusalem and one-time owner of what's now know as the Shepherd Hotel, with Adolph Hitler in Berlin in 1941.One official said Lieberman, an ultranationalist, hoped the photo would "embarrass" Western countries into ceasing to demand that Israel halt the project on land owned by the mufti's family in a predominantly Arab neighbourhood in East Jerusalem.Note the scare quotes around the word "embarrass" - this is Haaretz, although it's a Reuters dispatch.
Some diplomats opposed Lieberman's move, arguing it could earn Israel stiffer world criticism for seeming to sidestep the wider conflict it faces with the Palestinians who want East Jerusalem as capital of a future state, another official said. The 'some diplomats' are probably leftovers from the years that the Left controlled the foreign ministry. You can bet that Tzipi Livni would not have issued an order like this.
Asked why Lieberman issued the order, a spokesman said: "because it's important for the world to know the facts" and would not elaborate.
But it's apparently the right move (even though I doubt it will embarrass anyone - certainly not the Obama administration which adheres to the view that the US was not at all responsible for the Holocaust), because the 'Palestinian Authority' is upset by it.
An official in Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's government accused Lieberman of "political bankruptcy" in ordering the distribution of the Husseini-Hitler photograph.'No application to the present'? The 'Palestinians' haven't changed at all since 1941. Their goals are still the same.
"It's an old story that has its own circumstances and doesn't apply to the present," said Adnan al-Husseini, the Palestinian Authority-appointed governor of Jerusalem, and a relative of the late mufti.
The Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem said said Husseini supported Nazi Germany to try to win backing for Arab nationalistic goals and that he lobbied for the extermination of Jews in North Africa and Palestine.

The Palestinians still deny the Holocausr and they have the chutzpah to accuse Israel of "moral bankruptcy! They can't deny the ancestor of their people befriended Hitler and supported the Nazis and their aims to the very end. They are ones who today want to deny the Jewish claim to Jerusalem.
What could go wrong indeed
Hitler was bad
This is the same derangement that takes hold whenever people discuss Jews: "The Holocaust didn't happen - but we'll finish it better next time," "Jews are all Communists - Jews are all Capitalists!", "Jews control everything - they are inferior to us!"
And this derangement seems more then irrationally centered on Israel - "The Jews are oppressing the Palestinians - even tho' Jordan has killed 20,000 of them all at once & are now taking away their citizenship."
I could go on - you know I could - but there's only so much space in this column...
