Trader Joe's reminder

I wanted to remind you all that Trader Joe's across the United States are due to be raided on Saturday by supporters of the 'Palestinians' who are seeking to prevent Israeli products from being sold by removing them from the shelves.

Those of you who are in the US, please go to Trader Joe's and buy as many Israeli products as you can afford and use. If you're Jewish, please do it on Friday and not on Saturday.

If anyone who is not Jewish can provide me with a Carrefour-type video of what happens on Saturday, I would greatly appreciate it (if you're Jewish, I'm not supposed to have benefit from photos or videos taken by you on the Sabbath, even if you are not religious yourself).

And thanks to Trader Joe's for helping the Israeli economy by carrying Israeli products.

More evidence Palestinian nationalism is negative phenomenon. They can't compete with Israel in the rest of the world; they can only try to limit Israel's accomplishments. The anti-Israel BDS movement again is going to achieve the opposite of their intent.

Not that I was planning on it, but I thought that you're allowed to benefit from hillul shabbat after shabbat (if it was not done specifically for you). No?

LB,

Even if something is not specifically done for me, I have to wait long enough after the Sabbath to have benefit so that I am not benefiting from the fact that they started it or did it on the Sabbath.

In the case of a picture or video of a news event, the event takes place once - on the Sabbath. Without the other person's violation of the Sabbath, there is no way I could have seen it. So I'm not supposed to see it or use it.

carl,

a boycott of trader joe's or any store in america wont work.

this is based on pure economics

the majority of americans believe that kosher products are healthier

studies have been done that show, when a product gets certification, sales increase well above the jewish community numbers.

this is also true of israeli products.

which is why, trader joe's will not remove these products from their shelves.

not one of these boycott attempts is gaining any traction

bacci40 - Speaking of which, there is a rumor that when Fuji (or another Japanese film company) started selling their products in the US, they printed an OU on their film, because they had been told that products with that symbol sell better.

I don't know how believable the story is, but it does emphasize your point.

In any case, the boycotters are not operating on free-market economics, they are trying to use scare tactics in order to create an illegal economic disincentive to stop selling Israeli products.

Does anyone know if anything really happened anywhere yesterday?
