The diplomacy of wishful thinking
Mona Charen has a great article in Friday's edition of the National Review Online: President Obama presumably wants Israel to uproot the 300,000 Jewish settlers who live in the West Bank to make way for a Palestinian state in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza. This is the “solution” to the Palestinian question that has been endorsed, formally and informally, by the last three presidents and most of the foreign ministries in the world. It has even been endorsed by many Israelis, including former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak, who offered 95 percent of the West Bank and all of Gaza to Yasser Arafat.Perhaps this is the place to point out the odious comparison that President Obama makes between American blacks and the 'Palestinians,' as if the 'Palestinians' are suffering from slavery and segregation. Admittedly, Obama is not the first black politician from the United States to make that comparison. But the reasons that the comparison is invalid bear repeating.
The idea of handing over the West Bank to the Palestinians has lost favor in Israel after Gaza was evacuated (at considerable pain) in 2005, because the area became a launching pad for missiles aimed at the Israeli heartland. But President Obama has a solution to that. It’s nothing much — just the wholesale reversal of Palestinian political culture.
“Palestinians must abandon violence,” the president instructed. “Resistance through violence and killing is wrong and does not succeed. For centuries, black people in America suffered the lash of the whip as slaves and the humiliation of segregation. But it was not violence that won full and equal rights. It was a peaceful and determined insistence upon the ideals at the center of America’s founding. . . . Now is the time for Palestinians to focus on what they can build. The Palestinian Authority must develop its capacity to govern, with institutions that serve the needs of its people.”
Is that all? If Mahmoud Abbas were like Martin Luther King Jr. and the Palestinians were like African Americans at Selma and Birmingham, things would be very different. In fact, if the Palestinians were not wedded to terrorism and violence; did not celebrate as heroes and martyrs those who blow themselves up in shopping malls and restaurants; were not beset with corruption, steeped in anti-Semitism, and drunk on maximal claims, there would be no conflict. Israel would have long since given up huge portions of the West Bank, as it gave all of Sinai back to the Egyptians.
Israel's Arab community (those 'Israeli Arabs' who live within the 1949 armistice lines and in Jerusalem) have more rights than any Arabs anywhere in the Arab world. Israel accepts Jews of all races and colors. We have here in Israel Jews from Ethiopia, Jews from India, Jews from the former Soviet Union, Jews from Arab countries from Morocco to Yemen, Jews from Europe, and Jews from North, Central and South America.
No, this is not paradise, and I have heard more than my share of racist remarks and observed more than my share of racist behavior. But there is no official discrimination in Israel against anyone based on race, color or creed.
And if the 'Palestinians' hadn't repeatedly shown their desire to murder us, they wouldn't face the restrictions on movement that they face today.

The nice Jews in the Israeli government now want to invite the US to sit on a joint committee to ensure no new settlement construction happens. And they want Israel to accede to the so called two state solution because if the US wants a Palestinian state, Israel cannot block the US from securing it. Such nice Jews will be the death of the Jewish state.

You know, Hussein's position is not much different than the position of Condi Rice, who drew the same odious comparison of the "Palestinian struggle" to the American civil rights movement. This sort of comparison only belies their lack of historical perspective, and worse, their inner anti-Israel Judeophobia. That Hussein reiterated the "Israel was created because of the Holocaust" canard in an Arab capital and at the site of a German concentration camp speaks volumes of his pro-Arab bias. It's one thing for a Secretary of State to spout such platitudes. It's another for a POTUS to espouse such views. It is extremely dangerous.
The "Palestinians" are taking full advantage of not having to toe any line or make any concessions. They continue to suck up billions of aid dollars and yet continue their genocidal path unimpeded - in fact strengthened under the tutelage of the incredibly disingenuous Gen. Dayton. No amount of "concessions" on Israel's part will appease the "Palestinians" or the Americans, who have now resorted to lying about and obfuscating former agreements. Netanyahu's only hope is to say "No" very loud and clear and take all bets off the table.

Yes, Carl. I noticed. I was just putting their mutual perspective together. That such a view is propounded by the POTUS shows that either he is an uneducated lout with no knowledge of history or that he has deliberately chosen to push the Arab and anti-Israel propaganda line. Or both.

Condi is black, Hussein is not.
Hussein is a white aryan raised mulatto looking biracial. He wasn't raised in the 'Hood" by a black parent, but raised in Indonesia by his white mama, and then in Honolulu by his white grandparents.
He is not even realy half black. His father from Kenya has no relation to the west African blacks sold as Marielitos by their kings.
His "black" half never suffered Jim Crow.
In fact Luos are not Negro but y-haplogroup studies show that they are of the Capoid race -related not to negro bantus , but Capoid Khoisans.
Hussein chose to "become black" so as to play the race card to his advantage. He stole his harvard admission affirmative action slot from an authentic black American, and knew that by playing the race card, liberal whites would vote for him and especially Jews would donte to him.
