Ahmadinejad refuses to guarantee Mousavi's safety

Iranian junta leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held a press conference today, and in response to a question by CNN's Christiane Amanpour, he refused to guarantee the safety of his political rival Mir Hossein Mousavi.

Let's go to the videotape and I'll have more below the fold.

Allah P. shows this video and then asks an interesting exit question:
How soon before Hezbollah and Hamas are ordered to attack Israel to distract the Iranian masses?
I believe the Iranian people are beyond that level of distraction. Iran may try that ploy, but I don't believe it will distract the Iranian people anymore, and I believe the IDF will respond harshly to any such attacks. (By the way, Hamas did shoot a Kassam last night, Israel responded by bombing two tunnels in Gaza last night, and Hamas shot another Kassam that hit the Ashkelon beach today. I'd look for much harsher retaliation from Israel tonight to nip this Iranian ploy in the bud).

By the way, Gateway Pundit is all over the Iran story as well with lots of pictures and video, as is Michael Totten, who is liveblogging.

In the end, the Iranian mullahocracy rests on the naked iron fist, not on popular consent. Ahmedinejad made that clear to foreign journalists. Looks like all the love and goodwill from America has been lost on Iran.

Now party like its 1938!
