What if there were rockets in Judea and Samaria

One of the most blogged pieces on the web yesterday was Michael Totten's Dispatch from the Border with Gaza (Hat Tip: Instapundit). It's not just Michael's clear and unbiased reporting that attracts links. It's the pictures.

For me, most of what Michael writes wasn't really new, and it probably wasn't really new for most of my regular readers either. What was most interesting to me about Michael's report is a picture of a map in which Gaza is a footnote.
Colonel Eisen held up a map that showed which cities in Israel would be under attack if the same kinds of rockets flying out of Gaza today were being launched from inside the West Bank.
Every major population center in the country would be under attack except Haifa. Yet Haifa is within Hezbollah's rocket range out of Lebanon in the north. When Hezbollah fired its medium-size Katyusha rockets at Haifa in 2006, Haifa was on fire and emptied of people and cars. It was like a city at the end of the world. It's possible, though very intolerable, to live under Qassam rocket attack. It isn't possible to live long at all under Katyusha rocket attack.

If this nightmare scenario ever unfolds, Israel will be in a fight for its life. And Palestinians and Lebanese will be killed in horrifying numbers in order to make it all stop.
And Michael doesn't mention Ben Gurion International Airport, which would also be within range of 'Palestinian' rockets emplaced in Judea and Samaria.

If Israel ever allows the creation of a 'Palestinian' state reichlet in Judea and Samaria and withdraws the IDF from the area, this 'nightmare scenario' will unfold. And if there are 'international' troops between the IDF and the 'Palestinians,' it may be impossible for the IDF to stop the rockets without coming into conflict with the 'international' forces.

Israelis go to the polls today. The issues in today's vote are whether we will risk this 'nightmare scenario' and a second one - a nuclear armed Iran. I urge all my Israeli readers to go vote for parties on the right.

In the meantime, read the whole thing. Even if he's not telling you anything you don't know already, Michael's a great read.

The dispatch from Totten was good. Unfortunately, it will only reach the conservative/republican audience. The liberal/democrat group will not listen and it despises Israel.

Because of the new Obama Administration you and all of Israel are in great danger. As you know Obama was school in Muslim practices. He was also school in law and the methods of deception.

Because of the “Hope & Change” Administration and the associated deception it brings, you might want to not put all of your eggs in one basket as they say. You may consider look for help at different and locations. These would include both Russia and China (in fact you have the whole world to choose from). I will say that both Russia and China have experience at fighting radical Islam.

America is not abandoning you – there are just less Americans in power who support you.

The problem lies with the “Hope & Change” Administration and their anti-Israel rag-tag supporters.

I you should happen to convince the “Hope & Change” Administration, the Senate and Congress, all of whom are cut from the same cloth, then you may have some success. I doubt that you will have success.

Your time, money and energy would be best spent convincing those groups of Russians who lost loved ones to Muslim terrorists. They could help you.

The second thing would be to form a coalition with the Chinese who could also help you. You might try to convince them to sell low quality weapons or even booby-trapped weapons to Iran and Hamas.

Lastly, you could disregard UN and European public opinion and clean out the rat’s nest yourself. You have the ability to do so.

I wish it was that easy... the Left is not just a political machine but is influential in the bureaucracy, the army and just about all of the higher reaches of Israeli society. They run the police, prosecution and courts and can make life as miserable as they seek to drive a Right-Wing government out of office.

That's why I'm not holding my breath waiting for change to come to Israel, not when the Right is preoccupied with survival rather than defending the country from its enemies. The moment they enter into office, they are fair game for their adversaries, whose chief concern is not Israel's welfare but getting back their lost power.

We've seen this script before.

so we are all worried about the new president who may look at the troubles in the middle east even handly.what a outrage that the obama administration may want to bring a lasting peace to the region by addressing the injustices done to the arabs. and these liberals who crave for a better peaceful world where ALL people are equal are just plain nutts.don't they realise that the jews are gods chosen people and can bomb and kill who ever they like and occupysine all the land they want.
