Video: Christiane Amanpour v. Zippity Livni
This is a video report by Christiane Amanpour on CNN. I haven't had the pleasure that often. Fortunately.Part of the report is an interview with Zippy (as in Zippity-doo-dah - yes that's how Amanpour pronounced it) Livni and Livni takes her to the cleaners. But it still amazes me how Amanpour and her stooge keep throwing out slogans about the 'humanitarian crisis' and pretending that the plight of Gaza's non-terrorist citizens has nothing to do with the terrorists who hide among them.
Let's go to the videotape. I'll have more afterwards.
Powerline has a lengthy post that talks about the lengths to which Israel goes to avoid civilian casualties - which are far greater lengths than any other army in the world.
As Yaacov Lozowick notes, the IDF has called the neighbors of targeted sites to give them a ten-minute warning.Somehow, Amanpour managed to miss all that.
...First, Israel clearly has created a sophisticated GIS (geographic information system). A system that records tens of thousands of buildings, their location, and their distance from each other. Then there's a database with the names of the tens of thousands of families who live in the buildings, and the phone number of each family. The system has the ability to identify all the families and phone numbers that could be affected by an attack on any given building. Finally, given the numbers involved, there must be a system that automatically makes concurrent phone calls to dozens of families, since everybody has to have the same ten-minute warning.
Ah, and someone put tens of thousands of piece of information into that database.
Such a system costs real money, takes time to set up, and since it is obviously operating close to flawlessly, it was tested, fiddled with, tested, fiddled with, and tested again. The purpose, I remind you, is to save the lives of thousands of Palestinians who happen to have murderous neighbors.
Lozowick concludes that the IDF is the most moral army in the world: "This drives some people bonkers, and they often go ballistic. Alas for them, and fortunately for many Palestinians, it happens to be the simple truth."
Read the whole thing.

I'm surprised you found a good thing to say for Tzippy Livni. We're in agreement she's an empty suit and can't speak a word of passable English if her life depended on it but she's not always wrong. Christiane Amanpour is and she's the one who doesn't really understand why Israel is fighting in Gaza. In that respect, she's far more of an airhead than Livni will ever be.
Carl,
Oh, my! Looks like I'VE been mispronouncing Tzippy's name, too. How should it be pronounced? Is it tongue behind the teeth, then kinda push out a "ddz" sound?
I'm not Jewish... can pronounce chutzpah, yarmulke and Chanukkah (sp?), but this one's a challenge.

Amanpour DOES understand about Israel, and willfully LIES, consistently and often. She is a total whore for the jihadists, the Left, one of the worst of the MSM. She is NOT an airhead, she is a sh**thead
Honestagawd, in a fight between Livni and Imawhore, I have a hard time deciding who to root against...
Why do they let this idiot in the country? They should kick her and CNN out for blatant anti-Semitism on their part.
She spouts the lies that her Muslim masters tell her to say, as does all the CNN reporters.
That is why I don't watch CNN any more.

It is good to avoid civilian casualties as much as possible, but when israel puts it's ground troups lives at risk to prevent enemy casualties, THAT is a DAMNED SIN!!! There is NO EXCUSE to risk a Jewish life to save an enemy, NONE WHATSOEVER!!! The Lubavitcher Rebbe was very adamant that this should STOP!
israel "says" they are letting in supplies. the implication being, that they are lying. nice. i suppose its too much to ask for reporters to actually report all the aid israel sends to gaza, and since it is then israel should find a way to make the truckloads of aid they send over a lot more public knowledge so that this kind of smear campaign couldn't happen.
LeePro,
The "tz" in Tzippy is pronounced the same as in chutzpa. You are right; Amanpour is wrong.
Findalis,
During the Oslo War, CNN was almost kicked out of the country altogether and the cable channels were ready to offer Fox instead. They came here and begged, and the government decided to let Fox in, but to have the cable companies offer both.
THE "TZ" IN TZIPPI ALSO SOUNDS LIKE THE "T'S" IN "IT'S"
