IDF confirms: 'Exchanges of fire' during the night

The IDF has confirmed that there were 'exchanges of fire' between IDF soldiers and Hamas terrorists during the night. No further details.

Hamas is claiming that the IDF fired on houses on the eastern end of Gaza City during the night - presumably houses from which Hamas terrorists were firing.

UPDATE: Jameel at Muquata reported earlier this morning that Hamas HAS been shooting at IDF troops and that IAF helicopters are in action against Hamas sites. Guess it didn't last long - and there's only one party honoring it and even that so far appears to be in name only - a pious hope.

On a related note, according a Channel 2 television poll, 64% of Israelis want Operation Cast Lead to continue. Only 26% wanted to stop the war outright.

The link from there's in Hebrew but it shows how little Israel's politicians care about the public's wishes in prosecuting this war.

NormanF,

That poll is from last week, and Hamas fired rockets all day today.
