Rocket lands near Ashdod
A 'Palestinian' rocket landed near Ashdod on Sunday morning, some 40 kilometers from the Gaza Strip, confirming General Security Service assessments that the 'Palestinians' have increased the distance that their rockets can travel, placing more Israelis under potential fire. Like Ashkelon, Ashdod is in my back yard. It's also the home of Israel's second largest port.Warning sirens sounded in Ashdod Sunday morning as three rockets launched from the Gaza Strip landed east of the city.YNet adds:
The rockets, apparently Grad type projectiles, marked the northernmost point where Hamas rockets have reached, more than 40 kilometers north of Gaza.
One of the rockets hit a courtyard of a private residence. The house's inhabitants were unhurt but all windows shattered as the rocket landed.
Siren also sounded in Gan Yavneh, a town not targeted in the past.
Between four and six Kassam rockets landed in Ashkelon on Sunday morning, Israel Radio reported.
No damage was reported in the attack but one woman suffered from shock.
An air raid siren was sounded in the Ashkelon and Ashdod area at around 9:30 am, followed explosions heard in the area. A siren also sounded in the Yavne area in central Israel.Defense Minister Ehud Barak has ordered all schools within twenty kilometers of the Gaza Strip to extend their Chanuka vacations until further notice.
Two Qassam rockets landed in open areas in the Eshkol Regional Council in southern Israel. Sixty-four rockets were fired at Israel on Saturday, a Netivot resident was killed and several people were injured.
A resident of the moshav hit by a rocket said, "We heard the siren, and several moments later there was a very loud explosion. I could imagine that a Qassam landed in our moshav. The entire house trembled. We have nowhere to go to because we have no fortified rooms. There's a shelter located several houses away from here, but we couldn't reach it.
"Only after we came out we discovered that the rocket landed right next to my house. It was a miracle that nothing happened. A few houses sustained damage and people here are extremely terrified. We didn't imagine it would be so close."

Good map. I wonder how many people realize how small the country is.
The Palestinians have kept improving their capabilities and this is on the heads of those who run Israel... who should be placed on trial for treason and face the gallows but sadly, won't be.
You know I just met a young lady here in the US, whose family lives in Ashdod.The conflict over there bothered me before but now it makes a big difference to me.My heart and prayers go out to the people there.Peace and love to you all...Bob
