Israeli Jewish civilians to return to Gush Katif?
Following Defense Minister Ehud Barak's statement that Israel may conduct a large scale military operation in the Gaza Strip in the near future, the Homesh First Movement announced on Tuesday that settlement groups are planning to return to settlements in Gush Katif evacuated during the August 2005 disengagement from the Gaza Strip.Sounds good to me (although honestly, I would be afraid to do it myself). Let's go to the videotape.

I do think Jews should return. The expulsion of Jews from Gaza was an act of criminal folly and it demolished the article of faith long held on Israeli Left that Jews living in the territories is the reason why there's no peace between Jew and Arab. Well Gaza is judenrein today and if anything, Arab Nazism towards Israel has only gotten more virulent and its tendencies far more lethal. The presence of Jews in the revanants is a symptom of Arab hostility towards the Jewish State, not its cause.
Yes, I do think the Gush Katif should be completely rebuilt, at state expense and an apology tendered to the expellees. And measures should be taken to make sure its never repeated again anywhere in Israel.
The expulsion from Gaza was one of the biggest mistakes Israel made. The agreement stated that Israel would withdraw and there would be no more attacks from Gaza.
Since the agreement was broken by Hamas, Israel should take ALL of Gaza and kick every Muslim out of each and every part of that land. Then tell Abbas to get his ass off of Jewish land.
Excuse the profanity.
I would agree with Feiglin on that one: if there's a military operation in Gaza in the near future, its purpose will certainly not be reconquest but restoring precarious "calm" in the South in order to get an alibi for another explusion in YE"SH.
G-d save us from this junta, the sooner the better.
Findalis,
There was no agreement. The expulsion was unilateral stupidity by the Israeli government.
