Chairman of US Joint Chiefs fears Israeli attack on Iran
Michael Mullen, the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, expressed concern over an Israeli air strike on Iran at a Defense Department press conference on Wednesday (Hat Tip: Hot Air). At a Defense Department press conference, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, refused to say what Israeli leaders told him during meetings last week about any intentions to strike Iran.That's not to say that Mullen has illusions about what Iran's up to.
But asked whether he was concerned Israel would strike before the end of the year, he said: "This is a very unstable part of the world and I don't need it to be more unstable."
The American military is severely strained already by wars on two fronts — the nearly seven-year-old campaign in Afghanistan and more than five years in Iraq.
"Opening up a third front right now would be extremely stressful on us," Admiral Mullen said.
"I believe they're still on a path to get nuclear weapons and I think that's something that needs to be deterred," Admiral Mullen said, adding that it should be done through diplomatic, financial, and economic actions by America and other nations.And what if sanctions don't work?
Israel's Channel 2 reported Thursday night that Iran is willing to give up its nuclear enrichment program in exchange for the current sanctions being removed. I don't believe it.

The worst fallout would be world condemnation? Better that than as Gold Meir once said, to have "a beautiful obituary." When it comes to the world's attitude to Jews, nothing's changed. If Israel's current leaders won't defend the country, they need to step aside for people who will. Living with a nuclear Iran is NOT an option for the Jewish State.
