Achille Lauro hijacker freed from Italian jail, ordered out
A 43-year old Lebanese man has been freed from an Italian jail where has been held since 1985 for his role in the hijacking of the cruise ship Achille Lauro (pictured) and the murder of wheelchair-bound American Jew Leon Klinghoffer, who was shot and pushed into the sea off the Syrian coast. The Italian authorities have given Ibrahim Fatayer Abdelatif fifteen days to leave the country. His request for asylum was turned down. Abdelatif's lawyer says that the rejection of his asylum request will be appealed because Abdelatif has no place to go. He was born in a Lebanese 'refugee camp' and Lebanon refuses to take him back.Maybe they can stick him in Guantanamo.... I'll bet the US government would be happy to have him as its guest for the rest of his life....
Curiously, the Wikipedia entry on the Achille Lauro doesn't mention Abdelatif. Here's what they say about the hijackers:
The fate of those convicted of the hijacking is varied:Hmm.
* Bassam al-Asker was granted parole in 1991. He died on February 21, 2004.
* Ahmad Marrouf al-Assadi disappeared in 1991 while on parole.
* Youssef al Molqi was sentenced to 30 years, left the Rebibbia prison in Rome on February 16, 1996, on a 12 day furlough, and fled to Spain, where he was recaptured and extradited back to Italy.
* Abu Abbas left the jurisdiction of Italy and was convicted in absentia. In 1996, he made an apology for the hijacking and murder, and spoke out in favor of peace talks between Palestinians and Israel; the apology was rejected by the U.S. government and Klinghoffer's family, who insisted he be brought to justice. Abbas was captured in Iraq in 2003 by the U.S. military during its 2003 invasion of Iraq. He died in U.S. custody March 8, 2004.
The PLO was sued for its role in the death of Leon Klinghoffer. The $1.5 billion suit was dropped when the PLO paid an undisclosed sum to Klinghoffer's daughters. The family founded the Leon and Marilyn Klinghoffer Memorial Foundation in cooperation with the Anti-Defamation League, which works to combat terrorism through legal, political and educational means.

I'd suggest we figure out a way to keep track of him (and other terrorists) so that if there would be a way to legally harass him, send him assorted pork products, porn, and mohammed cartoons we should...
I'd normally say screw the Italians. But Ehud Olmert doesn't have a leg to stand on since he's about to release Samir Kuntar.
Give him a nice strong sedative, and when he falls asleep, inject a microscopic explosive device into his brain set on a timer to explode at a certain time, say, while he's making love to one of his grand daughters.
