60 congressmen demand Iraq recognize Israel or lose aid
Now this is an idea whose time has come.More than 60 Congressmen are supporting a non-binding resolution that would demand that the Iraqi government recognize Israel or lose billions of dollars in American aid. Neither the Bush administration nor the Israeli government has raised the issue.I wonder if President Bush had to touch down in Amman or Cairo when Air Force One flew from here to Saudi Arabia. And by the way, I can think of a few other countries that ought to have to recognize Israel or lose their US aid. Let's start with the 'Palestinian Authority' and Lebanon.
Florida Democratic Congresswoman Alcee Hastings thought about introducing the resolution after a recent flight of Congressman visiting Israel was not allowed to fly to Baghdad from Israel. "As we got on the C-130 taking us back, we were advised we’d need to land in Amman, Jordan, touch down and then take off again to Israel,” she told the New York Jewish Forward. "This offended me deeply," she added.

I think the idea is ok.. but the method they're doing it will only lead to something negative.
Why do we have to do something that will be so culturally provocative.
I almost suspect this is another Democrat attempt to sabotage our foreign policy.
I think its an excellent idea considering almost all the demands are directed at Israel. Its time the other side had things to do too, to make peace possible. Its not too much to ask.
