Al-Jazzeera: 'Palestine's political divide'

It has been exactly a year since Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip.

Power sharing between Hamas and Fatah had been tried.

But it was the unravelling of the national unity government, agreed in Mecca, that resulted in the Hamas takeover.

That forced Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, to take appoint a new caretaker government in Ramallah.

This has created a political divide where Hamas controls Gaza and Fatah dominates the West Bank.

Let's go to the videotape. Nour Odeh reports and then I'll have a couple more comments.

What's amazing about this video is that Israel is not even mentioned in the video. Neither is the United States. Apparently, al-Jazzeera realizes that the 'Palestinians' are responsible (at least in part) for their own mess. Unfortunately, the commenters at YouTube don't realize it.

The Palestinians have pitted themselves against each other in a way the old Yishuv never did. And they still expect a state like it was given to them from Heaven. Heh.
