PA official: 'Palestinian state a step towards destroying Israel'

If anyone out there still believes that the 'good terrorists' from Fatah have given up on the phased plan for Israel's destruction (God forbid), I urge you to consider this story. In an interview with the Kuds Fares newspaper that was published on May 28, Palestinian Authority parliament member Kais Abed al-Karim Abu Leila states that the "staged plan" for Israel’s destruction involves beginning with a Palestinian state.
Arguing against the growing support for Hamas and Islamic Jihad by declaring that Fatah also intends to destroy the Jewish state, just via another strategy, al-Karim explained: “The one-state solution, which I would be interested in being a democratic one based on national equality between peoples, will not be actualized until after the implementation of the two-state solution. This is a critical juncture that has no substitute in order that the Palestinian nation actualize its national rights on its land and afterwards will create the conditions for equality with another nation.”
Of course, Fatah has never disavowed its intention to destroy Israel, so this is nothing new except to those who fool themselves that Fatah has changed. Recall this interview (video link) with Abbas Zaki, Fatah's representative in Lebanon last month.

On September 1, 1993, just after the existence of the Oslo negotiations was announced (the Oslo Declaration of Principles was signed on the White House lawn on September 13, 1993), Yasser Arafat told Radio Monte Carlo that the Oslo Declaration of Principles
"will be a basis for an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the Palestine National Council resolution issued in 1974.... The PNC resolution issued in 1974 calls for the establishment of a national authority on any part of Palestinian soil from which Israel withdraws or which is liberated."
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Quite so! Even Mahmoud Abbas, the "moderate" PA President, has refused to accept Israel as a Jewish State. Now as then, the Palestinians want everything while Israel gets nothing in return. So what's the point of the two-state solution?

Fatah read this:

Jer 30:11 For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

Chris, good verse, but one that follows not far after yours is even more clear about the permanence of Israel, going beyond th chastening, in speaking of the area around Jerusalem:

"...shall be holy to the LORD. They shall never again be uprooted or overthrown." (Jer 31:40)

echoed later by Amos 9:14-15:
"I will restore My people Israel...And I will plant them upon their soil, Nevermore to be uprooted from the soil I have given them.
