Lebanese Civil War Watch: Sunni 'Islamic resistance' to Iranian takeover launched

In this interview, which was aired on Lebanon's LBC TV on May 12, former Lebanese MP Khaled Al-Dhaher announces the launching of the Sunni "Islamic Resistance" to Iran and its proxies in Lebanon.

Here's a transcript:
Since the army and the security forces are incapable of defending our sons, our religion, our faith, and our liberty, we in the Islamic Gathering have decided to launch national-Islamic resistance, in order to protect Lebanon and defend its people, and in order to prevent the Persian enterprise from getting its clutches on an Arab capital, because the people who have occupied Beirut belong to the Persian-Iranian army.
Let's go to the videotape.

The only difference between this civil war and the 1975-90 civil war is that there are no Christians this time. (Of course, there still are Christians in Lebanon, but their numbers are far less than they were twenty years ago and the Christians don't seem to be playing a leading role in the fighting). And based on two items I ran yesterday, I would say that the Druze are divided.

The West doesn't understand conflicts like this. When it comes to religion, if I'm right, you're not. And if my religion tells me that I have to kill all the infidels and I know my religion is right... well, you know the rest. You know it, but unless and until you've lived with it, you can't really internalize it. We Jews in Israel, who live under the constant threat of Islamic-based 'Palestinian' terrorism have internalized it. And while we know that the Sunni and the Shia may engage in a murderous battle in Lebanon for the foreseeable future, we also know that there is only one thing that can interrupt that battle and unite them - God forbid: The opportunity to murder Jews.

Absolutely right, Carl. The only common ground between is their hatred of Jews and the West. Absent that, they'd be throwing each off rooftops and slitting each other's throats. Sunnis and Shiites agree on little but their superiority over other sect.
