Video: Qadhafi points out the elephant in the room

Muamar Qadhafi of Libya is an entertaining speaker. This is part of his lengthy diatribe to the Arab summit in Damascus last week. Note how Bashar al-Assad and his foreign minister Walid Muallem keep laughing.

But Qadhafi has some serious things to say. He asks those assembled why - if there was no 'occupation' before 1967 - there was no 'Palestinian state' before 1967. Good question and the answer is obvious: To the Arabs there was an occupation before 1967 and there will still be one even if a 'Palestinian' state reichlet is set up (God forbid) on ALL of the territory that Israel liberated in the 1967 war. In other words this conflict is not about land. It's existential!

Qadhafi also tells his fellow leaders that they all hate one another (including Qadhafi himself) and that one day the Americans may hang all of them like the Americans hung their good friend Saddam. 'Moderate' 'Palestinian' President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen looks thrilled at that prospect, eh? Too bad the Saudis and the Egyptians weren't there. Talk about hanging together!

But most of all, sit back and enjoy because the dude in the robes is one entertaining speaker!

Interesting, an honest politician. That's rare.
It does say Ishmael's descendants will be fighting against everyone and brother against brother. That's exactly what's happening.

Like I said in a previous post, the Palestinians have never been a great hurry to have self-determination. Its never been Israel that has stood in their way - and the world knows it.

The concessions package Ehud Barak offered Condi Rice this past weekend gets nowhere close to addressing "the elephant in the room."

I've always liked Qadafi (terrorist though he is) and felt we blew opportunities that could have been had by working with him to improve relations with the Islamic world. Very courageous speech considering he's already is a marked man. Interesting his suggestion about the UAE islands and Persian/"Arabian" Gulf issues.

Carl, is this april fools? For thst first few minutes, it appears that he asked rational reasonable questions, and the arabs laughed to cover their unease.

Or he was doing comedy.

If this is an accurate translation of what was said, it is good that it was said. The US envoy may have been there as well, so this could have been political theatre for him.

Maybe Libya will be next to sign a treaty with Israel. Maybe not.

If this is real, then at least one dictator recognizes reality, even if others deny it.

I think some of you haven't caught on. Summary:

1. '67 borders are irrelevant. There should be no Israel whatsoever.

2. The Arabs should become a united nuclear power - and not for electricity.

3. The Arab should put aside their differences and stand up to the west, especially the US, no matter what they do or threaten.

4. Arab thugs and butchers should be protected by their fellow goons no matter how awful they are.

5. Get over the relatively minor inter-Muslim spats so we can concentrate our efforts against kafir infidels.

And Allah knows best.

Shy Guy, that's true, but only part of it. Qadafi, has been one to talk honestly, courageously, and most of all, independently, showing signs of being someone that responds to reason, that's an honest broker and probably could have made a difference if the US had taken advantage of the opening after he gave up his nukes.

Here's an absolutely fascinating MEMRI article where Qadafi, member of Arab League, explains how Hey, We North Africans are Shias!

Funny how the US is all obsessed with Iran and their proxies, and not even noticing Qadafi--you think Libya's going to stand by as the Shias are attacked? Ha! Talk with him, persuade him, or we will have to deal with him. (You heard him, he's working from within to pressure the Arab League already about the UAE islands. That's not just to be more effective as a block, but because he identifies with the Shia.)

The guy's been dictator for like 38 years (?) or so,so he really doesn't have experience with other ways to operate. We should have made more persuasive, tangible initiatives.

I believe that Hashem actively is involved in major historical changes and for His own reasons placed the Islamic religion in place.

Much like He placed 'a hook' in Pharaoh's mouth so that he repeatedly went back on his word to let the Hebrews go from slavery.

The multi-headed Islam Hydra is a constant thorn in Israel and the world. Could it be to bring back the Jews of the world to Him and His commandments, edicts and laws?
