More Christians than Jews? 82% of US Christians support Israel

A new poll conducted among both Catholics and Protestants in the United States by an evangelical Christian organization has found that an astounding 82% of American Christians say that they have a moral obligation to support Israel and some 65% say that the candidates' stances on Israel will affect their votes in the US Presidential election in November.
The subjects were asked whether they thought a country created in the West bank and Gaza would be democratic and peaceful, or a terrorist state. Thirty-two percent thought it would become a terrorist state, 24% thought it would be democratic and peaceful, and 44% said they didn't know. Fifty percent said they believed Jerusalem should remain unified, 17% supported dividing it between two states, and 33% remained undecided.

According to the poll, 65% of American Christians are convinced that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, which its leaders will attempt to use in order to destroy Israel. A similar percentage said that the US presidential candidates' Middle East stance would constitute a major factor in their vote for president in August [should be November CiJ], in contrast to 13%, who said that the issue would not affect their vote.

The poll also found that 45% of American Christians would support the presidential candidate that promised not to pressure Israel into conceding on issues that would endanger its security, and to protect the US from the Islamic terrorist threat and Israel from the Iranian threat. Only nine percent said they would not support such a candidate, and 29% said these issues would not affect their vote.
I wonder if 82% of American Jews believe that they have a moral obligation to support Israel. Given the number of moonbats among American Jews, I doubt it.

Why should that be when we can't even claim that 82% of Israeli Jews believe that they have a moral obligation to support Israel!

Israel deserves support. Its leaders don't. There's a clear difference there.

Naturally us Christians should support Israel. I guess it's kind of kinship, Jesus was Jewish, from the line of David and Christianity was born of the Jewish faith, accepting Jesus as the promised Messiah, the Christ. Christians read the old Testament, it's part of our Bible, and it tells the history of the Jewish people, God's chosen people, as promised to Abraham about his descendants.
Do I make sense? G'night, gotta get some sleep now.

This statistic does not surprise me. Nor would it surprise me to learn that nowhere near that number of American Jews support Israel. See, it's a matter of common sense; unfortunately, more American Christians than Jews are willing to be considered "conservative" in their political opinions, and so they are willing to go with common sense on issues like Israel. Too many American Jews are worried about being considered conservative, so they won't take a "conservative" position even when it's obvious common sense. That death wish is very dangerous, of course.
