About Me
- Name: Carl in Jerusalem
- Location: Jerusalem, Israel
I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Four of our children are married! Before I started blogging I was a heavy contributor on a number of email lists and ran an email list called the Matzav from 2000-2004. You can contact me at: IsraelMatzav at gmail dot com

Well Carl, are you happy now?
The Sox are Series-bound and the Yankees and their EX-manager are on anti-depressants. :-)
I lived in Calif. for many years and, not having any ancient Brooklyn issues, was always a steadfast Dodgers fan. :-)
I can go back even farther. When I was a kid in southern NJ, my best friend's dad would occasionally take us to a game at the old Connie Mack stadium in North Philly. Now that was a ball park! And get this-he'd get 2nd tier infield seats-over the dugout-for less than $5! With snacks and parking,he'd still only around $25! Nowadays, you could probably just tack on a zero to that. :-(
I remember one time we went to a double header and they had the Wallendas there for between-game entertainment. One of them walked a high wire from one corner of the stadium to the far corner on the other side. Good memories! :-)
