Haleh Esfandiari released from jail
American - Iranian academic Haleh Esfandiari was released from jail yesterday after being held since December when she was taken off an Iranian plane at knife point. Esfandiari's family put up some $400,000 in bail for her release. Below is an interview with Esfandiari from Iranian television (Hat Tip: Kamangir); there is also a BBC video report available (embedding not allowed) by going here.It is not yet known whether Esfandiari will be allowed to leave Iran, where she had gone to visit her elderly mother. I would not hold my breath waiting for her to be released. In fact, I think it's far more likely that the regime will try to lure her husband to Iran.
