Islamic Jihad leader to Al-Manar: 'Security Fence' is an obstacle to the 'resistance'
In an interview on Hezbullah's al-Manar television nearly two weeks ago (November 11), Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Shalah said that Israel's 'security fence' is a significant obstacle to the 'Palestinian resistance.'Hat Tip: It's Almost Supernatural
“If it weren’t there," he told Al-Manar Television, "the situation would be entirely different.”
...
He asserted that suicide bombing attacks are the Palestinian people’s “strategic choice” and are meant to “create a balance of force and deterrence” in the campaign against a superior enemy. Shalah said the terrorist organizations have every intention of continuing suicide bombing attacks, but that their timing and the possibility of perpetrating them from the West Bank depends on other factors.
“For example,” he said, “there is the separation fence, which is an obstacle to the resistance, and if it were not there the situation would be entirely different.”
I still don't believe that the 'security fence' is a panacea for Israel's problems with the 'Palestinians.' In fact, if the 'Palestinians' succeed in expanding rocket fire from Gaza to Judea and Samaria, the fence will not stop the rockets. But it certainly does not hurt.
Meanwhile, the world calls it the 'apartheid wall' and accuses Israel of continuing the apartheid policies of South Africa. Maybe they don't want us to defend Jews? Why would I think that?
By the way, for those of you who are used to seeing thick concrete slabs and think that the picture I have chosen above is not representative: you are wrong.
Most of it really is a fence and not a wall. And if the 'Palestinians' would stop the terror, it wouldn't be necessary....Most of the barrier (over 95% of total length) consists of a "multi-layered fence system" ideally 50 m in width. The IDF's preferred design has three fences, with pyramid-shaped stacks of barbed wire for the two outer fences and a lighter-weight fence with intrusion detection equipment (controlled by a command and control system built by Elbit) in the middle. Patrol roads are provided on both sides of the middle fence, an anti-vehicle ditch is provided on the West Bank side of the fence, and a smooth dirt strip on the Israeli side for "intrusion tracking" is provided.
Some sections (less than 5% of total length) are constructed as a wall made up of concrete slabs up to 8 m in height and 3 m in width. Occasionally, due to topographic conditions other sections of the barrier will reach up to 100 m in width.[17] Wall construction (5%) is more common in urban settings, such as areas near Qalqilyah and Jerusalem, because it is narrower, requires less land, and provides more protection against snipers. In all cases there are regular observation posts, automated sensing devices and other apparatus. Gates at various points are controlled by Israeli soldiers. The total length as officially authorized by the end of 2003 will be 650 km (403 miles).

Arab propagandists do their best to portray Israel's security barrier in a negative light-- as if it were somehow unique. What many people do not realize is that many other countries are also building fences to keep out Islamic terrorists. In fact, even countries as diverse as India and Saudi Arabia are building fences to keep tgerrorists out of their countries. I wonder if the propagandists will also try to spin these as being 'Apartheid Walls'....
it is terrible that israelis put up fences.
they should be torn down at once, and instead have a shoot to KILL any and all peoples that cross israel's self declared borders.
