PA 'unity government' would call for 'multinational force' in Gaza

Haaretz is reporting that if the 'Palestinians' ever succeed in forming a national unity government, it is likely that they will call for a 'multinational force' to be deployed in the Gaza Strip to keep the peace act as human shields for Palestinian terrorists.

A Palestinian unity government would request the deployment of a multinational force in Palestinian Authority territory, according to a document presented by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to Hamas and Islamic Jihad officials on the eve of the start of talks.

According to the document, Abbas would head the unity government's cabinet meetings himself, in line with the role of Lebanese President Emile Lahoud.

The document constitutes Abbas' opening position in his planned talks with the various Palestinian factions, first and foremost Hamas.

...

With regard to conducting negotiations with Israel, the document grants the Palestinian Authority chairman full authority to hold talks.

It also calls for the Palestinians to demand an international peace conference in order to further the peace process.

Details of the document were released yesterday in the Palestinian Authority journal Al-Ayyam. According to the report, Abbas is expecting an answer to his proposals from the other Palestinian factions by next week.
Of course, we don't need to worry about that since the Olmert government has decided that a 'Palestinian unity government' will never happen.
