Siniora is twisting in the wind

A couple of hours ago, I reported that Lebanese Prime Minister had called for disarming Hezbullah in an interview with an Italian newspaper today. Now he is claiming that his words were mistranslated and that he didn't call for Hezbullah to be disarmed.

According to HaAretz, Siniora's office issued the following statement:
What the prime minister said is that the international community has not given the Lebanese government an opportunity to deal with the problem of Hezbollah`s arms, since the continuing presence of the Israeli occupation of Shebaa Farms is the reason for the weapons' location.

The international community needs to assist us in persuading Israel to withdraw from Shebaa so that we can deal with the problem of Hezbollah`s arms.
The newspaper, Corriere della Sera, said that it stands by its report and that the interview with Siniora was taped.

My gut reaction is that the interview was real and that Siniora has since been threatened by Hezbullah.

Nobody ever negotiated a peace duringt a war except someone who was surrendering.
