Kassam lands in Ashkelon for the first time
A Kassam rocket landed in Ashkelon proper for the first time this evening, hitting near an ORT school on Ben Zvi Street in the south of the city. No one was wounded and no damage reported, despite the fact that, according to television Channel 1, a number of children were playing soccer outside the school when the rocket landed.
Kassams have landed on the outskirts of Ashkelon, particularly in its industrial zone. On at least one occasion, a rocket has struck a site on the outskirts of Ashkelon that was described as "strategic."
The IDF is trying to determine whether the Palestinians have obtained a rocket with a larger range than that of the standard Kassam rockets.
