Experts: Iran much closer to nuke than many believe

This should make you all feel just great....
Executive director of the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center Henry Sokolski addressed the looming fear of Iran’s proximity to creating a nuclear weapon.
“[Iran] is closer than anyone thinks,” Sokolski said.
Sokolski reinforced that the presence of covert nuclear facilities in Iran has little bearing on how close Iran is to actually getting the material necessary to create a nuclear weapon, stating that weapons-usable plutonium is readily available from spent fuel in non-covert facilities.
Phillips closed with ramifications of Iran getting a bomb, stating that Iran’s procurement would create a renewed arms race in the Middle East and in turn would result in a “cascade of nuclear proliferation.”
“In the end [freedom] is the greatest hope,” Philips said.
What could go wrong?

  2. Oh please. The smart money is on Iran already being a nuclear state. They're simply waiting for the right time to spring it on us. The problem for them is that if they announce now they don't have a reliable indigenous delivery vehicle. Once they do they'll announce and while the EU pretends to wring its hands, Obama will declare the end of all such discussions as a victory for diplomacy. After all Obama's thinking in nuclear policy is lead by the late Ken Waltz (Mearshimer's mentor) and Waltz' theory was that nuclear proliferation was a GOOD thing and less dangerous that not having them in everyone's hands.
