Great news: 'Palestinians' want to join UNESCO; UPDATE: UNESCO Board Approves

In their continuing efforts to gain international recognition, the 'Palestinians' are trying to join UNESCO, the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization.
Three diplomats, speaking on condition of anonymity, because of the sensitivity of the issue, said the Palestinian delegation at UNESCO will request full-member status at a meeting Wednesday of the Paris-based body's executive board. The delegation currently has observer status.

The process for gaining membership at the UN Educational, Science and Cultural Organization is more straightforward than winning membership in the full United Nations.
The 'Palestinians' have had observer status at UNESCO since 1974. Full membership requires approval of two thirds of the 193 members. That's 129 countries.

The 'Palestinians' plan to present their request to UNESCO's 58-member board on Wednesday. The board can then recommend that the request go to a vote at UNESCO's General Conference, which runs October 25 to November 10 and includes all 193 member states.

The 'Palestinians' don't need to join UNESCO for it to be anti-Israel and anti-Jewish. Examples are here, here and here.

If the 'Palestinians' joining convinces the US Congress to cut off funding to UNESCO, that would be a blessing in disguise.

Israel Radio just reported that UNESCO's board has approved granting the 'Palestinians' full membership by a vote of 40-4 with 14 abstentions.

The way Israel Radio reported it, the 'Palestinians' were accepted for membership, but that membership is subject to the approval of the full UNESCO general assembly.

The first thing they will do is declare that Jews do not exist and never existed in "Palestine" and that every UNESCO plaque on every Jewish and/or Israeli building everywhere on Earth must be taken down. Then they will move to have UNESCO declare that the Kotel must be destroyed.
