Not pro-Israel, but definitely pro-mosque at Ground Zero

They're not sure whether they're pro-Israel, but they're definitely pro-mosque at Ground Zero.
Today, J Street President Jeremy Ben-Ami released the following statement:
The principle at stake in the Cordoba House controversy goes to the heart of American democracy and the value we place on freedom of religion. Should one religious group in this country be treated differently than another? We believe the answer is no.

As Mayor Bloomberg has said, proposing a church or a synagogue for that site would raise no questions. The Muslim community has an equal right to build a community center wherever it is legal to do so. We would hope the American Jewish community would be at the forefront of standing up for the freedom and equality of a religious minority looking to exercise its legal rights in the United States, rather than casting aspersions on its funders and giving in to the fear-mongerers and pandering politicians urging it to relocate.

What better ammunition to feed the Osama bin Ladens of the world and their claim of anti-Muslim bias in the United States as they seek to whip up global jihad than to hold this proposal for a Muslim religious center to a different and tougher standard than other religious institutions would be.
As if Osama bin Laden will suddenly love the United States if only a mosque is built where his henchmen murdered 3,000 Americans.

Can J Street possibly get any more craven?

The problem I have with that thinking, is we already see Muslims getting treated different then other religions. Muslims mosques in New York will be getting extra police patrols. As for Bin Laden, we know that muslims build their mosques on sites they have conquered. Having a mosque or whatever they want to call it on ground zero will certainly be looked upon by the Muslim world as a victory.

Yesterday the former Mayor Rudy Giuliani came out to oppose the Ground Zero Mosque. Unlike Bloomberg, Giuliani understands how important it is not to allow any mosques on that site. If Rudy were still Mayor, we wouldn't be talking about it today.

Foxmuldar, this is already the case in UK.

About 3 years ago I was driving along the East coast of UK after visiting my daughter. I drove through a really pretty little town and decided to take some photographs. I saw a lovely Georgian chapel. On closer inspection it was a mosque. I was pretty annoyed but went down to the sea front to take pictures of boats.
On driving back, there was, positioned outside the mosque a fully armed policeman, heckler and koch at the ready.

That was just for one middle-aged woman with a camera!

Anytime I read something which says we should or should not do X because of Osama Bin Laden or that doing or not doing X means the terrorist win, I cringe. This is a silly and obviously weak argument. Why, apart from defense and police or military activities should we care what these people think?

J-Street is now counted amongst my enemies along with Islam and Nazis. I have nothing but unrequited hatred for those, especially those calling themselves Jewish, who are selling out and showing weakness to the enemies of the Jewish people. I am a victim of 9/11 and I am incensed that this monstrosity is even being considered, let alone being condoned... May Hashem destroy the structure which is built with the hand of the Islamist.
