The flotilla's real goal

The goal of the Gaza flotilla of fools was not to bring desperately needed aid to Gaza. It is demonstrably correct that Gaza is not starving and that aid is not desperately needed. After all, if the goal was to bring aid to Gaza, the ships' organizers and Hamas would have accepted Israel's offer to have the small amount of aid that they were bringing (less than Israel lets into Gaza in a day) brought in by truck from Ashdod.

No, the real goal of the Gaza flotilla of fools was to open a shipping corridor through which Hamas could ship unlimited quantities and sizes of weapons as Hezbullah does in southern Lebanon.
Ely Karmon of the Institute for Counterterrorism at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, said that “the real force behind” the flotilla was “several Hamas front organizations and especially the Turkish IHH (Insani Yardim Vakfi, IHH, ‘humanitarian relief fund’), a radical Islamic organization close to the Muslim Brotherhood. IHH supports Hamas materially and its strategy of armed struggle, and [was] outlawed by Israel in 2008.”

The flotilla’s aim was to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza, thereby allowing Hamas free access to the Gaza harbor and enabling it to import long-range projectiles, as Hizbullah has been doing in recent years in Lebanon, Karmon said.

“Since the 2006 Second Lebanon War... Hizbullah has rearmed itself with more than 40,000 missiles and rockets, which cover all of Israel... Israel cannot permit itself to have a Hizbullah-like entity in its southern border, 60 km. from its heavily populated central region,” Karmon added.
And why is the World supporting Hamas and its allies? Charles Krauthammer says it's to deny the Jews any opportunity to defend themselves (Hat Tip: Memeorandum).
But as Leslie Gelb, former president of the Council on Foreign Relations, writes, the blockade is not just perfectly rational, it is perfectly legal. Gaza under Hamas is a self-declared enemy of Israel -- a declaration backed up by more than 4,000 rockets fired at Israeli civilian territory. Yet having pledged itself to unceasing belligerency, Hamas claims victimhood when Israel imposes a blockade to prevent Hamas from arming itself with still more rockets.

In World War II, with full international legality, the United States blockaded Germany and Japan. And during the October 1962 missile crisis, we blockaded ("quarantined") Cuba. Arms-bearing Russian ships headed to Cuba turned back because the Soviets knew that the U.S. Navy would either board them or sink them. Yet Israel is accused of international criminality for doing precisely what John Kennedy did: impose a naval blockade to prevent a hostile state from acquiring lethal weaponry.

Oh, but weren't the Gaza-bound ships on a mission of humanitarian relief? No. Otherwise they would have accepted Israel's offer to bring their supplies to an Israeli port, be inspected for military materiel and have the rest trucked by Israel into Gaza -- as every week 10,000 tons of food, medicine and other humanitarian supplies are sent by Israel to Gaza.

Why was the offer refused? Because, as organizer Greta Berlin admitted, the flotilla was not about humanitarian relief but about breaking the blockade, i.e., ending Israel's inspection regime, which would mean unlimited shipping into Gaza and thus the unlimited arming of Hamas.

And why would the World favor that? Because, writes Krauthammer, the World is tired of the Jews.
What's left? Nothing. The whole point of this relentless international campaign is to deprive Israel of any legitimate form of self-defense. Why, just last week, the Obama administration joined the jackals, and reversed four decades of U.S. practice, by signing onto a consensus document that singles out Israel's possession of nuclear weapons -- thus de-legitimizing Israel's very last line of defense: deterrence.

The world is tired of these troublesome Jews, 6 million -- that number again -- hard by the Mediterranean, refusing every invitation to national suicide. For which they are relentlessly demonized, ghettoized and constrained from defending themselves, even as the more committed anti-Zionists -- Iranian in particular -- openly prepare a more final solution.
And so, 65 years after the end of World War II, we have come full circle. The World is seeking to destroy another large sector of the Jewish community and most of the Jews not directly affected are silenced. We've been here before. Will it happen again (God forbid)?

Only if Israel stands up to the pressure. The signs for Jewish independence in this century are not encouraging.

What could go wrong indeed

I actually think the more important mission of the flotilla was to bring in the 40+ trained up jihadis to re-stock the Hamas rocket production and firing operations and to thug-patrol the Gaza streets to enforce submission.

And how many weapons, FAR more advanced, move into Israeli seaports and airports from the U.S. and its allies?

This could all be solved if all sides give up their entitlements to grains of sand, grow up, and embrace their inalienable rights, none of which include forcibly removing and ghettoizing those with whom you do not agree.

Take your hokey religion out of it, and you are left with a desert. There is already a desert of ideas in the region.

What we are witnessing in the media, actions and statements from other countries is indeed similar to how European communities treated thier local Jewish communities for hundred of years before. Libels, threats and killing Jews in thier homes and communities. The only difference now are those Jewish comunities in Europe are now mostly destroyed because of the ultimate attempt to rid the world of Jews. Now The UN et al, have taken the place of the hateful antisemitic nieghbors Nieghbors in Europe whom regularly carried out pogroms, violence and propagated libels against Jews inorder to drive them away or convert them. Israel has been that jewish community for the past 60 years. The less the world recognizes they are on the path to repeat history, the more likely we will see another major world conflict with facism again, in our lifetime. I think Obama has taken the place of Neville chamberlain and the appeasement to Islamic radicals is equilivant to Munich 1938.

@Marioth:

You don't get it. You don't even come close to getting it. You think that some bromide of "give up your entitlement to grains of sand" will solve this problem? I have to ask if you are really that naive?

As the unmolested historical record clearly, and unmistakably shows, 'arab land' and property were not forcibly taken from them to create Israel. Arabs were not driven from Israel en-masse. Arabs land and property were not stolen.

Also, as the unmolested historical record clearly, and unmistakably shows, 'jewish owned land' and property were forcibly taken from them in arab states after the creation of Israel.

What was effected was a defacto population transfer. One side was wronged, badly. And it wasn't the arabs.

The arabs never accepted the partition of land in the Palestine Mandate, which was supposed to be, en-masse, for the jewish homeland. But it wasn't to be, as Jordan got 80% of it before the partitioning ever was proposed.

Notice that after the Ottoman empire fell, land was partitioned into many arab states. Many partitions. Nary a complaint. Yet, the one state that was to be for the jews, their ancestral homeland, where they came from and have lived continuously for thousands of years ... this one state was the only real cause of strife. Because the arabs did not want the jews to get this land. They weren't on it before the jews, they didn't own the land that was being allocated for the jewish state. They simply didn't want to accept the jewish state on this land.

If you follow the religious imperatives from the dominant religion of the arabs, you see that they hold jews in a special place of contempt. Moreover, they provide a strong injunction against ever giving up land to non-believers.

So before you spout your multiple failed bromides, before you offer up solutions that do not address the problem, before you demand the Israelis and the jews give up to appease the arabs, why not spend the time required to actually comprehend why their is a conflict. Understand the root cause.

Because what your lefty friends say is the root cause ... well ... no ... they aren't even close. The root cause is arab and islamist intransigence. They don't want to be the first to give in to the jews. Their shame-honor based society would not be able to stomach that.

So they fought wars of annihilation against the jews. And continue to do so via proxies and useful idiots, whom are now focused upon deligitimizing the state of Israel.

What could be worse than being perpetually beat by the jews for the arabs? Didn't allah claim that the arabs would win? Didn't allah say don't stop killing them? Didn't allah say never cede land?

Yes.

That is the basis for this conflict. And yes, if you have a cold feeling running up your spine right now that you have been carrying water for these sorts of people ... yes, you are starting to get a clue.
