Obama: 'There's no green light'; UPDATE: Video added

In case the State Department didn't make it clear enough, President Obama told CNN on Tuesday morning that there is 'absolutely not' a green light for Israel to attack Iran's nuclear facilities.
US President Barack Obama strongly denied that the United States had given Israel an approval to strike Iran's nuclear facilities, in an interview given to CNN television on Tuesday.

Asked by the network whether Washington had given Israel a green light to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, Obama answered: "Absolutely not."

In the interview, which was broadcast from Russia, where Obama is on an official visit, he added: "We can't dictate to other countries what their security interests are.

"What is also true is, it is the policy of the United States to try to resolve the issue of Iran's nuclear capabilities," Obama said.

This would be achieved "through diplomatic channels," he added.
Does anyone think it matters anymore whether Obama gives a green light?

CNN adds:
The United States is “absolutely not” giving Israel a green light to attack Iran, U.S. President Barack Obama told CNN Tuesday.

“We have said directly to the Israelis that it is important to try and resolve this in an international setting in a way that does not create major conflict in the Middle East,” Obama said, referring to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
UPDATE 8:08 PM

I now have the video of the interview and there's a lot more about Israel than was indicated in the reports, although the reports did capture the substance.

Let's go to the videotape. The part about Israel starts at the 4:00 mark and runs until 5:45.

Anyone else think Ed Henry was fawning over Obama just a little bit? Heh.

Obama's opinion should have no affect upon Israel. Since the US is no longer a superpower, it really doesn't matter what America says because America can't do anything to stop Iran.

Hopenchange, any one?
