Hamas launched a propaganda cartoon of Gilad Shalit on Monday, playing it repeatedly on its Al Aksa television station, as well as on internet forums. In the film an unshaven Shalit is calling for his mother when visited in his cell by a Gaza boy who tells him that Israel does not care about him.Of course, you won't hear anyone pointing out why this sadistic cartoon violates the Geneva Convention. Is Hamas trying to tell us about their future plans? Or are they just trying to torture Shalit and his family some more? Either way, Israel should have put an end to this sorry story a long time ago. Hamas has no intention of releasing Shalit, no matter how much ransom the Israeli government pays.
During the three-minute film, additional Hamas messages include how it would be betrayal by the boy to free Shalit, especially with many of the boy's relatives in Israeli jails. Israel is portrayed as being only a collection of people from Western countries, and Shalit's only hope is for Hamas to kidnap another soldier to make Israel agree to Hamas's terms and discourage Israelis from joining the army.
