Liberal Marty Peretz tiring of Obama on Israel?

Maybe some Jewish liberals are starting to understand that the Obama administration is not pro-Israel. Here is Marty Peretz writing in the New Republic (Hat Tip: Memeorandum).

Frankly, I am sick and tired of President Obama's eldering--more accurately, hectoring--Israel's leaders. It is, after all, they whose country is the target of an armed and ideological cyclone that Obama has done precious little to ease. He brought nothing back from Riyadh and Cairo, absolutely nothing except the conviction of the Arab leaders that they need do nothing but sit and wait until the president squeezes one concession after another out of Jerusalem. Oops, I apologize. Maybe I should still say Tel Aviv. In any case, waiting is exactly what they are doing. Palestinian President Abbas has prided himself in doing just that. He had said so, as I pointed out in this space a few weeks ago.

Maybe you weren't offended by Obama's advice to Israel, via some 15 American Jewish leaders, that it had to "engage in serious self-reflection," as if it took its perils frivolously. But I know many Democrats who are; they're just a bit intimidated to say so.

Intimidated? Gee why?

Hey guys - you're supposed to be LEADERS not cowering weaklings. If the 'Jewish leadership' feels like Peretz does, it's time to stand up and say so. The worst that could happen is an IRS audit.

Can we see Obama be as candid towards dictatorships as he is with Israel?

It'll take a pigs can fly moment before that happens.

What could go wrong indeed

Hashem knows which buttons to push to get even fools to act properly. Too bad they never before realized America's dual Jekyll and Hyde relationship.

JStreet acts like they hit the lottery. They are giddy just getting an audience with him. Why is JStreet saying Obama is doing the absolute right thing with Israel? They love the “Self Reflection” bit. Can they possibly be this out of touch thinking they are a heartbeat away from Barack Hussein Obama? I invite any and all JStreet principals to free airfare and accommodations in Israel at the King David in Jerusalem for 7 days and nights under one condition, they must indentify that they are from JStreet either by clothing, interviews or merely passing out a thousand cards one by one indiscriminately in the Underground Club nightclub. Let’s see what Israel really thinks of their American counterparts.

These types of organizations are precisely why Obama thinks he can get away with this.
