'Palestinians': UNRWA headquarters on fire; UPDATED: 'Palestinians' fired anti-tank missiles from UNRWA HQ

'Palestinians' are reporting from Gaza City that the UNRWA headquarters in the city is on fire as a result of being hit by IDF shells. The IDF has brought five Israeli fire trucks onto the scene. UNRWA director Chris Gunness is making the over-the-top charge that Israel used a white phosphorus bomb on the building and that they don't have enough sand (in Gaza!) to put the fire out. I have both print and video reports on this.
IDF shells struck the United Nations headquarters in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, according to UN officials, and UN spokesman Chris Gunness said at least three people were wounded. The building was reportedly on fire.

Speaking to Sky News, Gunness called for an inquiry into the incident.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in Israel Thursday for talks with leaders regarding a possible cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, expressed "strong protest and outrage" at the reported Israeli shelling of the UN compound in Gaza.

Ban demanded an investigation into Thursday's shelling, and said Defense Minister Ehud Barak told him that it was a "grave mistake."
But if the UNRWA building was hit, it doesn't sound like it was a 'grave mistake' at all:
The IDF Spokesman's office told The Jerusalem Post that forces were responding to fire from the vicinity of the UNRWA building, and that further investigation into the matter was underway.
I have the Sky News interview with Gunness. Let's go to the videotape.

A couple of things to keep in mind. If this is an UNRWA building, that doesn't necessarily preclude the possibility that the 'Palestinians' fired on Israeli soldiers from it. In fact, there have been many instances in this war and previously in which the 'Palestinians' have used UNRWA buildings to fire on Israeli soldiers and civilians.

Moreover, although Gunness is not a 'Palestinian,' most of UNRWA's employees are. It has been proven in the past that many UNRWA employees are terrorists or connected to terror groups. UNRWA claims that it cannot weed out the terrorists (Hat Tip: Hot Air) among its job applicants!

To see many posts about UNRWA's connection with terror, click here.

The white phosphorus charge is one that has been made repeatedly in the foreign media over the last three weeks, but there is absolutely no proof that Israel has been using white phosphorus in a manner that violates international law.

Sure enough....
Hamas gunmen are using Palestinians as human shields, and are firing at IDF troops from the vicinity of UN facilities, Defense Minister Ehud Barak told UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Red Cross President President Jacob Kellenberger during a meeting in Tel Aviv on Thursday.

The defense minister stated that IDF soldiers would continue to return fire in self-defense.
I'm shocked. Just shocked.

Guess what was going on at the UNRWA headquarters?
The IDF on Thursday afternoon said that the army ordered an artillery shelling of the UNRWA building in Gaza only after a Givati Brigade force came under anti-tank fire from within the building. Channel 10 reported that artillery pieces situated outside the Strip pounded the building.

Palestinians reported that an IDF tank shell also struck one of the wings of a Gaza hospital midday Thursday [Apparently Al-Quds hospital in Gaza City although some earlier reports said Shifa. CiJ]. Witnesses said part of the structure was on fire. The army said that the building was also being used by Hamas men who were firing on IDF troops.

IDF troops also opened fire at two UN vehicles in the Strip on Thursday. One of the cars had no markings identifying it as belonging to the organization. The other was marked as a UN car, but gunshots were fired from it at IDF troops, who returned fire.
And we're finally not turning our tails in the face of 'Palestinian' shelling from behind human shields? Kol HaKavod l'Tzahal (more power to the IDF!).

The UNRWA building is a legitimate target. UNRWA was established to keep Israel bleeding. UNRWA is used by terrorists and their supporters for their activities, including arms smuggling and propaganda. The enormous smoke and fire coming from the building proves that arms and explosives were stored there. They always bring human shields inside. They did it before in Lebanon during the Grapes of Wrath operation.

Channel 2 just broadcast a shrieking woman supposedly from the UNRWA building. Sounded just like the Eretz Nehederet clip. We shouldn't stop or cringe because of abuses like this.

LEVEL the building....Level it...and then level it again!!

Yes, there seems to be some of the building still standing. A few more artillery rounds may be required.

Ki Ban Moon and the UN anti-Semites can go jump in the Mediterranean and drink the salt water. The UN is not a neutral but a declared enemy of the Jewish State. If I was Barak I wouldn't have said I'm sorry to Moon. I would have said this is what war brings upon those who force it upon the people of Israel, including your organization. Let them be cursed.

I think we need an investigation as to why the UN is permitting "militants" to use their buildings for launching attacks.

Let us pray for the safety of Palestinian civilians who held hostages by Hamas and the safety of Israeli soldiers. May this campaign end swiftly and may Hamas be annihilated. May moderate Muslims emerge victorious in the struggle for Gaza!

American Muslim, if the dominant voice in the Arab World and on the Palestinian Street was like yours, Israel would never have gone back into Gaza. All those dead children are on Hamas' hands. Perhaps one day the Arabs will love their children more than they hate the Jews. Its still a long way off.

Your lack of mercy is shocking.

Here, as in many aspects of life, views aroused by anger are the most illogical and immoral.

Let's face the truth: Hamas has made war not just on Israel but upon the Palestinian people. They cowardly hide behind children and the skirts of women as they fire their machine guns. They lob mortars and missles into Israel from beside schools. They use anti-tank weapons from the roofs of apartment buildings. When will the Palestinian people rise up and rid themselves of these terrorists? The Palestinians should see the conflict for what it is: a war by Hamas upon a civilian population, both Jewish and Arab.

What I want to see is Israel's representatives saying that if the UN remains neutral, that's one thing. But, if they side with the enemy, then they are the enemy and a legitimate target. If why can't refrain from siding with ghouls, then they should leave. If they choose to stay, then they have to expect to be targeted when attacks on Israel come from them.
